Johnny Poundcake is a direct son of Docs Sugs Brudder, who is an AQHA Champion with an LTE of over $48,000, and offspring earning more than $1.9 Million. If that isn't impressive enough, Johnny is a grandson of the great Doc Bar! His pedigree is littered with champions such as Lightning Bar, Sugar Bars, Three Bars, Dry Flower, Dry Doc, Bar Flower, Cee Bars, and more!
Johnny unfortunately received a poor prognosis from the vet. He has basically no teeth left on the bottom jaw, so everything he eats is mash. In addition to the teeth issues, the vet discovered that Johnny has an abnormal testicle. The vet immediately suspected testicular cancer. Although I did not see any blatantly evident signs of pain or discomfort from Johnny to begin with, as the cold weather set in, Johnny began showing more and more signs that he is in discomfort, mostly coming from the area of the abnormal testicle. I had decided to give Johnny until the first of the year to see if his body condition would improve, or if any signs of discomfort arose. Although Johnny's body condition improved dramatically in the short time I have had him, Johnny is unfortunately showing signs of pain. I have decided to lay Johnny to rest. He is the best boy and he will be dearly missed.

"King sired a few racehorses such as Squaw H, but is best remembered for siring horses with tremendous performance ability and cow sense. A few of the stallion’s better known sons were Poco Bueno, Royal King, King’s Pistol and Continental King." -AQHA
"King, one of the Quarter Horse industry's cornerstones. His conformation set the standard for Quarter Horse judging for more than a decade. " -Foundation Horses An excellent article on King that provides great details and records of King, and truly describes why King really was the King of Quarter Horses! -Pedigree Pursuits |
King is a major focus point in our breeding program. Appropriately named, King is one of the founding stallions of the true American Quarter Horse. Commonly called the King of Quarter Horses, King was well known to produce excellent minded foals with conformation, versatility, and a good cow sense. As a favorite founding sire, our horses boast at least 30% King p234 blood, crossing back to multiple sons and daughters.

Zantanon 1917
|
STALLION OFFSPRING RECORD
|
Erasmo Flores of Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, bought Zantanon when he was 11 months old and already had him in race training when he was 14 months old. A year or so later, Zantanon was sold to Erasmo’s uncle, Eutiquio Flores.
Zantanon’s quick break and scorching early speed won him race after race. His earnings purportedly paid for a ranch south of Laredo. He was soon dubbed “The Man o’War of Mexico,” after the famous Thoroughbred with whom Zantanon shared a birthday. But while the real Man o’War was treated like a celebrity, Zantanon received no special treatment. In fact, he didn’t receive much of anything. Half starved all the time,...His handlers were notorious for working him two or three hours a day, then leaving him tied to a hitching post outside a saloon for the afternoon. -America's Horse Daily |
